I really liked this template so I put together a set for my four years in danmei (mostly MDZS).
I'm honestly super surprised with how much I've managed to draw over the last few years. Art is just one of my many hobbies (the greatest of which is dozing in and out of sleep while reading fanfiction in bed) so for me to have churned out this much is... unlike me haha.
Anyway, you can kind of tell I started running out of steam in 2023 but I'm gonna try and get my mojo back for next year so!! Ganba me, ganba!!

Reading Dune right now. The length scares me (cmon, the font is so small???) and so does the world building and politics (wtf is all those original words. Had to flip to the glossary thing so many times) and my friend told me that he hated the book because of how many unnecessary characters there were, but I’m 15 pages in (I’m not even a slow reader but why did that…take so long?) and I’m surprisingly enjoying it? Like I genuinely want to pick up that book and continue reading, trying to figure out the whole world and religion and everything of this fictional universe. The thing is, I’m not really a big sci-fi or insanely politic heavy book reader but I like to read hyped up books (which often leave me disappointed) to try and understand what society is so hyped up about and whether or not it is deserved. And I want to watch the movies but because I like to give myself unnecessary hardships, I always read books before watching movie adaptations.
Point is, I’m bored and don’t know what to post so here’s a random reading update? I’ll let yall (aka the void) know whether or not I even finish this brick of a book.

Tiny Review: Boiling Point 2021. One take escalation.
Tumblr media
I like this. And recommend a watch.
The one-take is a good touch. I like it for the insight into the workings of a restaurant, the escalating tension and the cautionary tale.
Tumblr media
Boiling Point is a 2021 British drama film directed by Philip Barantini and written by Barantini and James Cummings, based on a 2019 short film of the same name. It stars Stephen Graham, Vinette Robinson, Ray Panthaki, and Hannah Walters.

NIGHT TEETH (2021)
Tumblr media
It was often hard to take Debby Ryan seriously as a big bad wolf but that is only because she is such an unserious person. Otherwise the casting choices seemed fair. Also this movie is claims to be an action movie but most of the action happens off screen so, do with that what you will.
⭐⭐⭐
Tumblr media
Benny is our hapless driver who just wanted to get a few extra bucks for the night by taking his brother Jay’s shift as a chauffeur. His passengers end up being two spunky vampires (Blaire and Zoe) who are on a mission to make the town theirs in one night so they are going place to place killing folks and Benny has to drive them (sad!). They have another teammate, Victor, and he is off killing Megan Fox and Sydney Sweeney who are vampires (respectively). Jay is a vampire hunter who has been targeted on this takeover night so now Benny is in the crosshairs.
Tumblr media
They go to a party, they leave a party, they go to another party, Benny walks in on them killing dudes when they are not supposed to be allowed to be killing dudes (they are supposed to be allowed to be vampires though, Benny just didn’t know that ‘til now). Now Benny is very scared and he tries to go to the cops but the cops have been bought by the vampires (oh no!). The master plan is unfolding and Benny just wants to go home. They end up at a nightclub where there is a real panic at the disco because a vampire was dying on the dance floor but patrons just thought another patron was dying in the middle of a good time! Wack!
Tumblr media
Finally we get to Victor's house and we have the final battle, Blaire doesn’t want Benny to die (he has saved them a few times this evening) so Zoe tries to kill her (sad!), this leads to Benny saving the day for her and killing Zoe. Jay kills Victor but not before Benny gets a very serious injury, he is dying! Benny is kept alive because he drinks Blaire’s blood and is now a spooky vampire, wow! Now Benny and Blaire are dating or whatever and are vampire BFF’s it is kind of cute but also kind of toxic like Blaire with Zoe. End movie!

Happy New Years everyone!! Today is my third anniversary in MDZS so I wanted to put together a three year summary of the art I've done in that time. It's sure... been three years. Here's to hoping I get to draw a ton of Wangxian for a fourth year as well!

Synopsis: Adaptation of the 7th volume of the series.
Review Proper
I'm not sure what's gonna end first: the series or my fucking life.
Tumblr media
As much as I love Saezuru, it's gone on for so long that it's starting to get old literally and figuratively. You know, I wouldn't even be mad if Yoneda Kou ended the series by killing Yashiro off in 6. 7 is still well-written to a point and the BLCD did deserve to rank second AGAIN in chil-chil 2022, but I'm not sure about the future of this series (it wasn't nominated in 2023 tho which is one of the few good things about 2023's).
I say a lot of things, but I'm still invested in vol. 7 & 8.
Tumblr media
I don't know who I'm jealous of, BUT THAT SHOULD BE ME! This scene is in vol 8, not 7, but I wanted to include it anyway.
I do agree that Saezuru portrayal of the whole yakuza deal is the realest 'cause happy endings over there are quite rare, but this isn't a novel that comes out in one go. Doesn't help that June is ass. I've heard from several friends who've read the latest releases that it feels like it's lost its way and that just makes me sad. I'm still hopeful tho.🤧
As I've already stated, this placed second in 2022's awards. I mean, it's Saezuru. Frontier doesn't spare a penny for it lmao. All the major characters are voiced, and they managed to bring the A-listers back again. Sometimes, I forget that Saezuru is actually based on a manga whenever I listen to the BLCDs 'cause the production is just that good.
Shingaki slayed as usual. I've said this many times before, but no matter how bad or how well he does in another role, he will always be Yashiro. I just came from Tsunaida and we're in the middle of a Rei event in Nu:carnival, so I would expect myself to adjust to Yashiro, but I didn't need any of that lmao. Yashiro is truly Shingaki's magnum opus. I'm not at all surprised that he placed 3rd best seiyuu for Yashiro. Deserved.
Speaking of Nu:carnival, I will forever be obsessed with Yashiro's relationship with the other characters aside from Doumeki. Nanahara's voiced by my one true love, Okitsu, but like Yashiro, I love him for his character and not his voice. It is nice having the other veterans in here with him, too. The slut trio is complete with Daddy Complex SatoTaku, Boss Ass Chaser Okitsu, and Damel in Distress Shingaki. #BLESS I want Kamiya to end up with Nanahara.
I haven't heard Wacchan in years HAHAHAHAHA. His Doumeki is still amazing as always. My issues with the story aside, I'm really looking forward to his "break" in vol. 8. EEEEEEE
Special mention to my Ryuuzaki and Miyake Kenta who made their comebacks here too. I missed him so much! LMAO
The BLCD is pretty accurate to the... magazine at least, but June does sell the translated tanko (fortunately). Like the previous installments, reading the manga while listening to the BLCD was so smooth because it was so accurate. Now 7 does end in a cliffhanger, so I don't really advise listening to it if you still don't have 8. But if cliffhangers aren't an issue for you, then break a leg!

Dimension 20 Misfits and Magic: Holiday Special (2021)
Tumblr media
In case you aren’t familiar with Dimension 20, it’s an actual play tabletop role playing game show available on Dropout. Misfits and Magic specifically uses Kids On Brooms for its gameplay, which is similar to Dungeons and Dragons with some different mechanics.
This holiday special follows the events of season 1 of the show, and I think for character reasons it make a lot more sense if you’ve seen the season, but it would still be fun if you like weird wizard holidays. Our game master (GM) is Aabriya Iyengar, and the magical misfits are Whitney Jammer (Lou Wilson), Evan Kelmp (Brennan Lee Mulligan), Sam Black (Danielle Radford), and K (Erika Ishii). Any character mentioned that is not one of the four magical misfits is played by the GM. This special takes place at Gowpenny Academy of Arcane Arts somewhere in Britain. Our magical misfits are American teenagers referred to as the “pilot program” for testing how previously non-magical people adapt to being magical.
Headmistress Philtrum tells our misfits that they can’t go home for the holiday break because their families are NAMPs (Not Activated Magical Person), and also because it is the time of year when their magic wanes the most, so it would be more dangerous for them to leave the school. Everyone is very upset, but they look forward to spending the weird wizard holiday called The Lulling together, especially since it’s Evan’s first holiday celebration ever. But when they learn what The Lulling signifies, survivalist Evan goes a little hard in preparing to fight the seemingly mythical wizard eating tadeshacourt, or tad for short, a large bear shaped monster with a deer skull for a head with antlers.
The minister of education McJonjon leads the ritual to lull the monster back to sleep for the year, and then everyone goes back to the castle, at least until Jammer finds something weird on his shoe that Evan identifies as deer velvet. I have no knowledge of when deer shed their velvet in Britain (or anywhere else for that matter), but Evan seems to insinuate that it’s out of season for normal deer this close to Christmas (December 21st). There’s also fun relationship drama between Jammer and Cleo, and Sam and Fergus, which prompts K to soothe their friends and further give Evan another panic attack.
Partly to keep their spirits up since nobody can go home for Christmas and partly to give Evan the best first holiday ever (and for a secret third reason), the misfits decide to throw a rager in the Great Hall. Being in Chimeron (Goat House!) gives them a great relationship with the kitchen. They call this party the lolling and invite everyone because none of these kids go home for breaks, which is weird.
This is a pretty niche pick as far as my holiday movies have been historically, and I do think it is hard to follow if you haven’t seen the preceding season. However, I believe that if you want to watch this, you would also like the preceding season, so you might as well just devote about 12 hours to watching all of it. Anything created by Dropout holds a very special place in my heart, so I’m going to give this 4 stars. I might not watch it again, but I definitely want to play Kids On Brooms and now I have to reread Harry Potter so… wins all around.
